INTERESTING PLACES THAT YOU CAN NOT MISS

Areatza.jpg

Historical Centers

The medieval foundation of many of the villas of Gorbeia makes it a luxury to walk through the cobbled streets of its historic centers. Real gems of the real estate heritage, of which several, have been declared "monumental group" by the Basque Government.

HISTORICAL CENTERS, TOWERS AND PALACES

The Biscayan side stands out for its mixture of buildings with a rural and at the same time urban architecture: Areatza, Otxandio, Orozko and Ibarra are some of the key sites.

In the part of Alava, you will find tower houses and palaces built by confrontations between lineages: Gopegi, Zarate, Murua, Murgia...

And what better way is there to discover the details of these majestic buildings, than going into a guided tour of the cobbled streets of their historical centers?

There are many alternatives and routes to go to Gorbeia. One of the most beautiful accesses and with a lot of tradition in mountaineering in Alava is, without a doubt, the one that starts from the town of Murua. A quiet, smooth and easy to make itinerary.

Beech of Altube

Did you know that the Gorbeia Natural Park is the largest in the Basque Country?

Gorbeia is home to some of the best preserved groves of the Peninsula and one of the lushest and spectacular is the Beech of Altube. Do you know him?

They say that this forest is therapeutic and in the autumn, it almost becomes a must. It is the moment when the colors of autumn explode, creating a natural impressionist painting. A sight worth seeing!

To reach it, there are several alternatives. That is why we recommend you visit the Interpretation Center - Parketxea in Sarria. It will give you more information about this and other places that are well worth visiting.
